Honoring a Beautiful Legacy
As one of the original members of Tail Waggers, Chrissy White brought immense joy, warmth, and compassion to our community. Chrissy possessed a profound understanding of the deep bond shared between animals and humans. Witnessing firsthand how a pet’s presence could completely transform a person’s day is why she loved her work as a therapy dog handler. Alongside her beloved therapy dog, Rory, she dedicated countless hours to therapy visits, bringing smiles and comfort to everyone they met. Chrissy loved teaching Rory new tricks, constantly finding inventive, heartwarming ways to share her special talents with those who needed it most. She was also dedicated to ensuring all animals received proper love and medical attention, believing that raising funds for local animal care was an essential mission.
To honor Chrissy’s memory, her fundraising dedication and her understanding of the human-animal bond, Tail Waggers has established the Chrissy White Memorial Scholarship. This annual award supports creative, passionate students who share Chrissy’s dedication to animal welfare and pursuing careers that elevate the lives of animals. Our core focus is investing in these fields, though we remain open to extraordinary students whose callings carry her same bright spark into the world.

Note: If no qualified student applicants meet the scholarship criteria in a given cycle, Tail Waggers HOPP, Inc. reserves the right to adjust eligibility preferences or redirect funds to our general mission to ensure donor gifts are successfully utilized.
🐾 Who Can Apply?
Applicants should meet the following baseline criteria; however, Tail Waggers HOPP, Inc. reserves the right to flexibly adjust these preferences based on the application pool:
- Current high school senior graduating in Spring 2027 from a local area high school.
- Has a 3.2 or higher GPA.
- Can provide two (2) verified references.
- Able to submit an acceptance letter from the program/school where they applied.
- Career Path: Planning to pursue a degree or certification in a field that directly helps animals (e.g., Veterinary Medicine, Vet Tech, Animal Rescue/Welfare, Zoology, Animal Sciences, etc.)
